About LionaFire
LionaFire Chat is a one-person project by Karoline Karkosch, built from scratch with a simple idea: messaging shouldn't be stressful.
Every design decision, every line of code, and every feature comes from the belief that you should be able to step away from your phone without anxiety. That messages should wait for you, not the other way around.
Why I built this
Modern messaging apps are designed to keep you glued to your screen. Read receipts create social pressure. Disappearing messages create FOMO. Notifications never stop. I wanted to build something different — a messenger that respects your time and your mental health.
LionaFire's core feature, Breaks, lets you truly disconnect while knowing that every message is safely held for when you're ready. Messages can't be edited or deleted, so you never come back to a conversation wondering what changed while you were away.

The tech
LionaFire is built with modern web technologies and runs entirely on Hetzner Cloud infrastructure in Germany. All data stays on EU servers — no US cloud providers, no international data transfers. The infrastructure is ISO 27001 certified.
There are no third-party analytics, no ad networks, no tracking pixels, and no external scripts watching what you do. Not even Google Analytics.
